Sharon Jenkins is a proven leader who has dedicated herself to the quality of life and success of San Marcos.

 

Throughout her 35 years of service to our city, Sharon has helped build seven schools and the North County Regional Education Center, founded six nonprofit organizations, championed three important ballot measures, and served as a responsible steward of taxpayer funds on our city council.

Her steady leadership and thoughtful guidance have helped make our city THE place in North County to live, get a great education, work, and play.

Lifetime of Service

Sharon’s leadership is grounded in decades of service to our community:

  • 12 years, six of those as Deputy Mayor, on the San Marcos City Council 

  • 14 years on the San Marcos Unified School District Governing Board

  • Six years representing San Marcos as a Board Member on North County Transit District

  • Six years representing San Marcos as a Board Member on the North County Dispatch Joint Powers Authority

  • 35 years of volunteer service working with 25 nonprofit organizations and community efforts - including serving on 11 boards and helping establish six nonprofits

Sharon's 26 years of leadership on the City Council, SMUSD Governing Board, and 35 years hands-on community involvement have given her a wealth of knowledge about our city. She is known for making well-informed decisions based on data, careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars, thoughtful discussion, and her own independent thinking.

Rooted In San Marcos

Sharon is a proud San Marcos resident for over 50 years. She is a graduate of San Marcos High School, Palomar College, San Diego State University, and CSUSM's Leadership North County. She is a real estate broker/owner, building on prior experience in the corporate world.
